A theory as to why Bass is not in Mega Man 11. So, one of the common complaints about Mega Man 11 is that Bass and Proto Man don't make an appearance in the game. Storyline wise, Proto Man's absence is easy to explain since he rarely involves himself outside of helping Mega Man. Bass on the other hand is harder to explain.

It's implied in the second arcade game that Proto Man dies from an "energy defect" (whatever that means), and Mega Man may have fought himself to the death via time travel, and may have done it twice (Mega Man V (Gameboy), Mega Man & Bass Challenger from the Future) but honestly that one is uncertain and may not have been canon anyway.
